Job Description

Role Summary

AML/CFT and/or Consumer / Retail Banking Auditor is responsible for performing audit engagements focused on AML/CFT, consumer business products, and retail banking operations. The role includes audit planning, execution and reporting of audit observations, as well as participating/leading risk-based audits to ensure effectiveness of risk management frameworks (including Basel II / III where applicable).

The individual will also drive value-add improvements across various business and support units, while leveraging data analytics, Generative AI and digital tools to enhance audit effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities

• Participates in and/or leads audits, performs risk profiling for assigned portfolios and manages all aspects of assessments in accordance with Internal Audit standards and regulatory requirements and statutes.
• Participate/Lead in Consumer / Retail Banking risk-based audits, including retail risk management audits covering Basel II / III frameworks, IRBA models, and related projects to ensure they are fit for purpose.
• Perform audits with a comprehensive understanding of AML/CFT, Consumer / Retail Banking business, products, key end-to-end processes, and Digital Banking segments.
• Well-versed in assessing business risks and controls, and recommend practical, business-focused solutions to improve risk management practices, including advisory as a subject matter expert where applicable.
• Actively assist in advancing integrated auditing concepts and the use of technology, including driving adoption of data analytics, Generative AI and other digital tools.
• Leverage data analytics, MIS, reporting tools and Excel / SAS / SQL / Python to identify early warning triggers and support ongoing risk monitoring.
• Self-starter in the use of Generative AI and data analytics in audits when needed.
• Reports and monitors significant issues/findings, and communicates audit issues confidently with Business Unit senior management and relevant stakeholders.
• Proposes practical solutions and drives value-add improvements for risk and control issues.
• Carry out effective engagements with senior management, demonstrating sound judgement, political astuteness and sensitivity to cultural diversity.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 5-15 years of relevant audit / risk / banking experience (depending on seniority of role).
• Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• AICB Chartered Banker, CBA/BKA or other relevant professional/banking certifications will be advantageous.
• Experience in auditing AML/CFT, Consumer / Retail Banking, branches or related retail operations. Familiarity with AML/CFT regulatory framework and/or retail banking risk management practices is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of auditing standards, risk management, internal controls, and retail risk management frameworks (including Basel II / III). Exposure to Basel-related projects or IRBA models is an advantage.
• Knowledgeable in general banking risk, processes and controls, with a focus on Consumer / Retail Banking products; experience in risk management, portfolio management or data modelling is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in using data analytics tools and technologies (e.g. SAS, SQL, R, Python) and data visualization tools is advantageous.
• Proficiency and strong aptitude in adopting and applying Generative AI and digital tools.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders confidently.
• Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgement and strong interpersonal skills.
