We offer expertise and laboratory facilities in the broad field of materials evaluation - including both metallic and nonmetallic structural materials. Our metallurgical laboratory focuses on metallurgical evaluation, failure analysis, quality assurance of materials and thermal spray coatings. Our testing laboratories measure the static and dynamic mechanical properties of specimens, components and assemblies. Our specimen preparation department, dedicated to manufacturing test specimens and custom tooling, operates as an integral part of our materials engineering complex.
Company History
Metcut Research Inc., founded in 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio, has a rich history rooted in advancing the science of machinability and materials testing. The company was established by Dr. Michael Field, Mr. Norman Zlatin, and Dr. John F. Kahles, who recognized the need for a centralized, independent source to evaluate and disseminate research in metal cutting technologies following World War II
Today, Metcut operates across three major locations—two in Cincinnati and one in Nantes, France—and serves industries including aerospace, power generation, transportation, and medical devices. It remains a globally recognized leader in materials evaluation, known for its technical expertise, innovation, and employee-centric culture.
