AVMA Insurance Services (AVMAIS) is hiring a Student Ambassador for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position offers the opportunity to work with an AVMAIS veterinarian and local AVMAIS agent while helping fellow veterinary students learn about the benefits available through SAVMA membership.
As a Student Ambassador, you'll help share information about complimentary veterinary student professional liability and life insurance coverage, as well as rabies prophylaxis benefits, disability insurance, auto insurance, renters insurance, and other valuable resources available to students.
The job requirements below provide additional details regarding responsibilities. Compensation is $600 per fall and spring semester. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

Job Description for AVMA Insurance Services (AVMAIS) Student Ambassadors
- Educate veterinary students about AVMA Insurance Services benefits available through SAVMA membership, including:
- Complimentary Veterinary Student Professional Liability Insurance
- Complimentary Student Life Insurance
- Veterinary Student Essential Protection Package (VetSTEPP), including rabies prophylaxis benefits, disability insurance, and other available coverage options
- Educate graduating students about post-graduation insurance needs and available programs, including:
- Graduate Guaranteed Acceptance Program
- Professional Liability coverage transition after graduation
- Veterinary License Defense coverage
- Promote AVMAIS programs, benefits, and events through approved school communication channels, including email, social media, SAVMA communications, and student organization communications.
- Coordinate and support AVMAIS campus events, including:
- Lunch & Learn programs
- New student orientation events
- Club and Career Fairs
- Other tabling events as needed
- Serve as the primary campus liaison for AVMAIS events by:
- Obtaining required school approvals
- Coordinating with SAVMA and VBMA leadership
- Scheduling events and reserving meeting space
- Coordinating leadership meetings during campus visits
- Assist with event logistics by:
- Collecting RSVPs and attendance information
- Gathering lunch selections and providing them to the AVMAIS team for ordering
- Managing or coordinating attendee check-in and lunch distribution during events
- Providing attendance information through post-event surveys
- Field questions from students regarding AVMAIS programs and benefits, including:
- Registration for complimentary student Professional Liability and Life Insurance
- Accessing Certificates of Insurance through the AVMA Insurance Services website
- Refer students to the local AVMA Insurance Services Agent or AVMAIS Veterinarian for detailed or individualized insurance questions.
