Description
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Construction Surety Underwriter will support the underwriting team in evaluating and managing construction surety accounts. The underwriter will work closely with senior underwriters and management, assisting with underwriting decisions, account management, and business development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in making underwriting recommendations for new and existing construction surety business, ensuring compliance with Chubb's standards.
- Support the communication of business objectives and strategies to internal teams and external business partners.
- Help manage day-to-day account servicing and operational tasks.
- Participate in the execution of territory management and tactical business plans.
- Contribute to achieving departmental goals in underwriting, financial analysis, marketing, and service.
- Support efforts to attract new construction surety accounts and maintain relationships with existing clients and agents.
- Assist in performing file reviews and audits for underwriting quality and compliance.
- Help monitor agent and account performance, ensuring adherence to procedures and authority levels.
- Participate in branch quality control activities, including file organization and maintenance.
- Build and maintain relationships with key business professionals (bankers, CPAs, vendors, etc.) to enhance marketplace intelligence.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to achieve organizational goals.
- Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 2-3 years of experience in surety underwriting, construction risk, or a related field (insurance, finance, or credit analysis).
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Customer-focused with a commitment to high-quality service.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support territory and account management.
- Agility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the construction surety field.
