- Associate Attorney (Insurance Defense)
Description
Reed McClure is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 2 or more years of civil litigation experience. This position will support senior attorneys in managing a diverse caseload defending (among others) automobile liability, personal injury, and premises liability claims with opportunities to move into insurance coverage, bad faith and extra contractual disputes and other types of litigation.
- Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and discovery responses.
- Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda on liability, damages, and insurance coverage issues.
- Taking and defending depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
- Arguing motions in state and federal courts.
- Attending court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Evaluating claims, providing liability and damages analyses, and preparing case assessments for insurance carriers.
- Communicating regularly and effectively with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel.
- Preparing cases for trial, including exhibit lists, witness preparation, trial briefs, and jury instructions.
- Assisting senior attorneys with larger, complex matters as needed.
- Maintaining accurate and prompt timekeeping while meeting annual billable goal of 1,800 hours.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar.
- Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience; insurance defense experience strongly preferred.
- Proficient research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Ability to stay organized, work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize competing tasks.
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and a client-focused approach.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation range of $100,000 - $120,000 annually depending on experience.
- Additional discretionary and non-discretionary bonuses based on performance and hours.
